In the summer of 2015, Dickerson Civic Center collaborated with Rhoads Terrace Bible Fellowship in South Dallas to present a reading program for K-8th grade students to improve their reading skills. Twenty students participated in the intense eight-week program facilitated by a reading specialist.
These academically at-risk students received motivation, support and recognition to challenge themselves to excel academically.
These students’ reading levels increased by one grade level!
This program, like others across the country, prove again that all children, when given the resources and opportunity and support, can achieve academically!
Funding for this program was provided by City of Dallas Fair Park Trust Fund.
